EDU-1075 - Children’s Literature and Language Arts (3)

Prerequisite: EDU-1012  , EDU-1013  , EDU-1030  , and ENG-1010T  or  ENG-1010  

 
Students explore and assess a wide range of literature for young children, and identify how literature can be integrated into the early childhood curriculum to facilitate learning of the language arts. Developmentally appropriate emergent language and literacy activities for young children are planned and implemented. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed based on their use of college-level reading, writing, and communication skills.

CO1 - Plan and implement a variety of emergent language/literacy strategies in their lesson plans.

CO2 - Demonstrate a variety of techniques to present literature to children.

CO3 - Apply accepted criteria for evaluating literature.

CO4 - Demonstrate developmentally appropriate practices for young children.
