Students study the principles and methods of medical microbiology including the identification and epidemiology of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria species. A passing grade of “C” is required in this course.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Describe medical laboratory culturing techniques and principles of antimicrobial susceptibility.
CO2 - Describe growth patterns and biochemical testing used in the identifications and analysis of microorganisms.
CO3 - Discuss host immunity, lines of defense, pathogenicity, and epidemiology of invading microorganisms.
CO4 - Discuss laboratory testing used to detect and confirm STDs.
