MLT-1080L - Clinical Microbiology Lab* (2) Prerequisite: MLT-1042 ; MLT-1042L ; BIO-2010 ; BIO-2010L Co-requisite: MLT-1080
Students learn and safely practice techniques for the handling and inoculation of pathogenic organisms. Also included is the identification of micro-organisms using different media and chemical determination. A passing grade of “C” is required in this course.
List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections) CO1 - Safely demonstrate medical laboratory culturing techniques and principles of antimicrobial susceptibility.
CO2 - Evaluate growth patterns and biochemical testing used in the identifications and analysis of microorganisms.
CO3 - Discuss host immunity, lines of defense, pathogenicity, and epidemiology of invading microorganisms.
CO4 - Differentiate and safely perform laboratory testing used to detect STDs.
