EDU-2080 - Guiding Behavior of Young Children* (3)

Prerequisite: EDU 1012 EDU 1013 EDU 1030 EDU 1040 , and ENG 1010T  or ENG 1010   

 
Adults who are responsible for the care and development of young children from birth to adolescence focus on the underlying causes of behavior, the philosophies and methodologies of discipline, as well as guidelines for supervising children. Students will develop an understanding of strategies for managing and guiding behaviors with a focus on positive interactions and guidance strategies. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed based on their use of college-level reading, writing, and communication skills. 

List Course Outcomes (consistent for all sections)
CO1 - Develop a personal philosophy of child guidance based on current theories.

CO2 - Develop a child guidance plan for a child.

CO3 - Apply the philosophies and major principles of at least three approaches or techniques of child guidance.

CO4 - Evaluate the basic stages of social, intellectual and moral development in children.

CO5 - Appraise factors contributing to inappropriate behavior.
